Douglas McLaughlin Obituary

Douglas McLaughlin, loving father and dedicated veteran, passed away on Monday, September 4. at the age of 74 in Hackensack, NJ. He was born on December 5, 1948 in New York and was raised in his beloved Brooklyn, NY. Douglas was a man of honor and service as evidenced by his distinguished military service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and bravely fought in the Vietnam war from 1968-1970 and was honorably discharged. His dedication and sacrifice earned him the National Defense Service Medal. Douglas was a true patriot and his service to his nation will always be remembered with gratitude. Beyond his military achievements, Douglas was a family man. He married Anne and from their union they were blessed with two children, Derrick and Jennifer. In his free time, Douglas enjoyed listening to jazz music and he was an avid reader. Douglas worked at the New York Infirmary as a Receiving Manager. He was a Security Officer for various businesses and retired as a School Safety Agent for the NYPD. Douglas will be missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. We take comfort in knowing that. Douglas will finally be reunited with twin sister. He leaves to remember him, his children Derrick and Jennifer. A prayer service will be held 1:00 PM, on Monday, September 11, 2023, at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack.
