Obituary of Edward J. Toomey

EDWARD J. TOOMEY, of Hackensack, NJ, died on Thursday, January 24, 2008,at Hackensack University Medical Center, at the age of 77 years. Born in New York City, he lived in Hackensack for 55 years. Prior to retiring, he was a credit manager for Cambrex Company of Hasbrouck Heights. Ed was a Past Grand Knight and member of the Knights of Columbus Trinity Council # 747 of Hackensack, a member of Bishop O'Connor General Assembly Fourth Degree of Hackensack, and also served as a District Deputy with the New Jersey State Knights of Columbus. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Hackensack Elks Lodge # 658. A parishioner of Holy Trinity R. C. Church of Hackensack, he served as an usher for 45 years and also belonged to the Holy Name Society. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Beloved husband of the late Lorraine D. (nee Loughman). Devoted father of Michael Toomey and his wife Donna of Oradell, Kevin Toomey and his wife Eileen of Norwood, Christopher Toomey and his wife Agatha of Hackensack, and Laurie Toomey of Hackensack. Loving grandfather of Michael and Dennis Toomey. Dearest brother of Jeremiah Toomey and his wife Carol of Melbourne, FL, John Toomey of Huntington Beach, CA, and the late Gloria Baumann. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, January 28th, at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack, at 10:00 AM. with burial following at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, Visiting will be on Saturday from 7 - 9 PM and Sunday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Memorial donations to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 would be appreciated
