Gloria D'Arminio

Obituary of Gloria P. D'Arminio

Gloria D'Arminio (nee Pampanin), aged 75 of Ramsey, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, Louis, children, Aubry, Thomas, and Lea, and son-in-laws Eric and Nathaniel. She also leaves behind the absolute lights of her life, grandkids, Carmine and Adelina. The daughter of John and Anna Pampanin, Gloria grew up in Garfield, New Jersey, alongside her late brother, also called John. She attended Montclair University, where she earned her Bachelors and Master's degrees in English literature. Prior to retiring, Gloria taught English as a Second Language for over 30 years in the Hackensack and Bergen County School Systems. Her greatest passion: helping adult immigrants, like her Italian parents, become United States citizens by imparting to them her love of American history and the written word. She adored detective novels, mystery dramas, and classic movies—and made a mean lasagna. She was a rare combination of brains, kindness, and fortitude. Relaxing, for Gloria, often meant yelling at the TV news. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00pm-8:00pm and Wednesday from 9:30am - 11:00am at G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack. A prayer service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hackensack. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hackensack Troast Athletic Club Scholarship Fund, 267 Summit Avenue Hackensack.
