Obituary of Frank C. Zisa
FRANK C. ZISA, A lifelong resident of Hackensack, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the age of 91. Frank was a highly decorated Veteran of WW II proudly serving in the United States Army. While serving in Africa he was taken a Prisoner of War by the German forces, and spent over 21 months in a German POW Camp, until his release and honorable discharge at the end of the war. After his return home, he founded the Zisa Insurance Agency which he operated for 40 years from 1946 to1986, which is now owned by his son. He was active in civic affairs and served Hackensack as a member of the City Council for 16 years including 4 as Mayor and 8 as Deputy Mayor. He was a Charter Member of Hackensack Unico, a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He was an active parishioner and usher at St. Francis R.C. Church in Hackensack, for over 30 years. Beloved husband of 64 years to Jean F. (nee Fontanella). Devoted father of Jack Zisa and his wife Maureen, Ken Zisa and Frank Zisa Jr. Loving grandfather of John, Anthony and Kristen. Dearest brother of John Zisa and his wife Mildred and the late Frances Zisa, Joseph Zisa and Carmen Zisa. Frank is also survived by his sister-in-law Rose Fontanella, several nieces, nephews and many other close relatives and friends. The Funeral on Tuesday, June 14, at 8:30 AM from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack, at 10:00 AM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Hackensack. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 - 9 PM.
