Obituary of John W. Garbutt

JOHN W. GARBUTT, of Wanaque, formerly of South Hackensack, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013, at the age of 75 years. John served his country in the United States Marine Corp Reserves from 1959 - 1961 at Port Newark. He worked for Local # 12 Asbestos of New York City for 26 years. He also worked in sales at Prudential Insurance of East Hanover since 1994. John served as Teterboro Fire Inspector, fire subcode, construction and fire official since 2001. He was a member of South Hackensack Fire Company # 1 for 30 years, a New Jersey State Fire Official, and a member of the NJ State Firemans Exempt Relief Association. He also was a member of the 200 Club and Alpine Tilden Tenakill Masonic Lodge of Livingston. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Hackensack. Beloved husband of 52 years of Joann D. (Bianchi) Garbutt. Devoted father of Lisa Silverman and her husband Scott of Sudbury, MA, Jonathan Garbutt of South Hackensack, Loriann Grana and her husband Gregg of Butler, Linda Pertuz and her husband Giovanni of Mahwah, and James Garbutt and his wife Joanne of Hackensack. Cherished grandfather of Georgie, Ethan, Rachel, Alicia, Matthew, and Nicole. Dearest brother of Lois Garbutt of North Bergen and the late Robert Garbutt. The Funeral on Tuesday March 5, at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Immaculate Conception R. C. Church, 49 Vreeland Avenue, Hackensack with burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM.
