Obituary of William C. Austin

WILLIAM C. AUSTIN , of Hackensack, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014, at the age of 78 years. Born in Dublin, Ireland he lived in Hackensack for 55 years. Prior to retiring, he was an elevator constructor for Otis Elevator of New York where he was a member of I.U.E.C. Local # 1. He was a charter member of the Bergen Irish Association of Dumont. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R. C. Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Trinity Council # 747. He volunteered at Hackensack University Medical Center in Pastoral Care and also volunteered and cooked at the St. Cecilia's shelter in Englewood. Beloved husband for 51 years of Pauline (nee Shields). Devoted father of Sean Austin and wife Tanny of Cresskill, Catherine Vazquez and husband Jose of Waldwick, Geraldine Martinez and husband Daniel of Hackensack, and Brian Austin of Vernon. Cherished grandfather of Allana, Sean, Louana, Gaetana, Olivia, Michael, Christina, Marc, William, Lorraine, Emma and Jack. Adored great grandfather of Valentina. Dearest brother of Joseph Austin and his wife Mary of Hazlet, and the late Maureen Donohoe. Patrick, Desmond and Peter Austin. Special father to Thomas Donohoe and wife Kimberly of Nutley, and Anne Gobel and husband Charles of Maywood. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack, at 10:30 AM with entombment following at St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM and Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass.
