Obituary of Gary R. Haltner

GARY RICHARD HALTNER, of Teaneck, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Holy Name Medical Center, at the age of 65 years. Born in Englewood, he lived in North Bergen and lived in Teaneck for 36 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to retiring in 2007, he worked for the Bergen County Sheriff's Department for 25 years retiring as Lieutenant and Range Master. He was a member of the V. F. W. Post # 1429 of Teaneck. Beloved husband for 42 years of Peggy E. (nee Wurst) Haltner. Devoted father of Keith Haltner and his wife Veronica of Glenwood, and Scott Haltner and his wife Heather of Andover. Cherished grandfather of Victoria, Keith, Logan, and Mason. Dearest brother of Carol DeVito and her husband Michael of North Bergen and the late Edwin Haltner. The funeral on Tuesday, September 16th, at 8:45 AM from the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack at 10:00 AM, with burial following at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM.
