Obituary of Evelyn T Stewart
Evelyn Tina Stewart (née. Martens) was born on February 5, 1953 in Teaneck, NJ to the late Jennie and Daniel Martens. Evelyn transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on May 20, 2019. Evelyn was a woman of great and unwavering faith. She always put God first in everything she did. Evelyn loved to serve God through helping others and the community. She found great joy in visiting different churches of all denominations. Evelyn met her beloved husband of 15 years Lawrence (Larry) Stewart at Beth Israel Church. They most recently attended Father's Heart Ministry congregation in Passaic, NJ. Evelyn was raised in Hackensack and attended and graduated from Hackensack public schools. She then attended William Paterson College (University). While attending school, she worked at various jobs. Evelyn then began her career at United Parcel Service. She proudly worked as one of the first female tractor trailer drivers for over 20 years. She took great pride in this role and of her ability to maintain a career in such a male-dominated profession. She established many friendships at her time at UPS. Evelyn met William Hill at UPS, and they got married. From this union Jennifer Clara was born. It was at this time that Evelyn became treasured stepmother to Shalene Hill and William Hill, Jr. One of Evelyn's most cherished moments was becoming Jennifer's mother, and she was overjoyed to find out that she would become a grandmother for the first time this October. She is preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Jennie Martens, and her sister Barbara Smithberger. She was a beloved wife to Larry Stewart and sister to Jeannette Cammalleri (Aldo Sr). Evelyn was a beloved mother to Jennifer Hill (Gabriel) and treasured stepmother to Shalene Hill and William Hill. Also left to cherish memories are nephews and nieces Joseph Cammalleri (Donna), Aldo Cammalleri, Jr. (Daysi), Aldo Kevin, Brian and Melissa, Shelly Riley (Scott) of Loraine, OH, and Debbie Paslawski of Loraine, OH, and a dear cousin to Gloria Cuozzo. She will also be missed by a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and community members. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 5 – 7 PM. Cremation will be private.
