Fr. Damian was such a unique and special person. He was a professor, chaplain, priest, and poet at Felician University. He completely embodied Franciscan values. Brilliant, kind, humble, he was the mirror of Christ and embraced everyone who knew him with compassion. Open-minded, funny, with a profound faith. I am so thankful to have known him. His love and memory will never be forgotten.

Father Damien I thank God that He blessed us with your presence in our life’s journey. I CELEBRATE YOUR LIFE. I thank your family . You were a Priests Priest, you were a great educator, a wonderful Rector at the Prep. It was due to Capuchins OFM that I grew into the man,husband and father that I am today. Father Damian was the Guardian during my first year (1973) of Priestly and Religious Life Formation. In many ways he was a warm and gentle man, and always had a glint of Franciscan joy in his eye. He was my professor for two Courses, and while he always covered the material, he was always willing to go off on a tangent, to share an amusing story or two. Bottom Line: Over the years, whenever Father Damian's name was mentioned in a conversation, there was an immediate smile on everyone's face...a shake of the head...followed by a "Father Damian" story. Quite a legacy for this Man of God. - Father Gabriel B. Costa
